fix
That`s right; this year I have submitted a session proposal for Mix 2010 and it has now been placed on Mix website for voting along with many many others.
Here is what my session is all about, if you like it … submit your vote and see it live in March in Vegas:
In this session we`ll take a practical look at customization approaches to ribbon and dialog components. You will see how you can create custom ribbon controls that match any of the SharePoint 2010 out of the box controls. You will also learn how to link your ribbon to dialogs and create new dialogs. Lastly, you will learn how to work with client object model and accept and do external and internal processing of data from dialogs.
Here are some key learnings:
1. Know when and how to use ribbon UI to expose custom functionality and components to users; how to reproduce any SharePoint 2010 ribbon component that is available out of the box to facilitate custom requirements.
2. Know how to wire your ribbon to SharePoint 2010 dialogs and how to accept and process dialog information including passing the information for external component processing using client object model.
3. Know how to deploy ribbon and dialog customizations to ensure they co-exist and do not conflict with existing out of the box components and features.
And of course here is the proposed demo plan:
1. See how to create a basic SharePoint 2010 ribbon button. Extend sample with ribbon Tab, Group.
2. Create more complex ribbon control. See how to quickly find definitions and structure for new controls to match out of the box look and feel.
3. Create a custom SharePoint 2010 dialog which accepts basic data.
4. See how to wire ribbon control to a custom dialog.
5. Use client object model and see how to pass dialog data to SharePoint object and update site objects dynamically
6. See how to send and receive data between external social networking web service and SharePoint dialog initiated by ribbon command.
1. Know when and how to use ribbon UI to expose custom functionality and components to users; how to reproduce any SharePoint 2010 ribbon component that is available out of the box to facilitate custom requirements.2. Know how to wire your ribbon to SharePoint 2010 dialogs and how to accept and process dialog information including passing the information for external component processing using client object model.3. Know how to deploy ribbon and dialog customizations to ensure they co-exist and do not conflict with existing out of the box components and features.
Hope you like it!
